Pneucon Founder Considered "Father of Pneumatic Logic"
Pneucon was co-founded by Edward L. Holbrook, P.E.
and Amot Controls Corporation in 1967. Edward Holbrook, a graduate of
the University of Pittsburgh, began his career in Pneumatics in 1929.
Often touted as the 'Father of Pneumatic Logic',
Holbrook assisted the Armed Forces in applying pneumatic controls during
WWII, and later organized several control divisions in European
countries. Among the many posts he held, he was a Divisional Manager at
the Westinghouse Air Brake Co., then at Modernair; later as Vice
President of Barker Instrument, and Clippard Instrument Co. He has
authored more than 150 articles, manuals and books, and is the holder of
numerous pneumatic device patents. Holbrook's honors include the
Professional and Executive Hall of Fame, Fluid Power Design award, and
the Fluid Power Achievement Award.
Ed Holbrook is also the creator of the Cybergram.
The Cybergram is an innovative 'hinge block' simplified approach to
diagraming circuits. It differs from the electrical ladder in that it is
an 'attached' rather than abstract presentation which aids the designer
through logical thought.
Today, the patented Pneucon 'Tadpole' modular valve
with its thousands of permeations along with its ancillary products are
used world-wide for automating many diverse industrial applications.
